if it says iphone disabled for an hour how many more tries do i have?

Usually 6 before it is disabled. If you have forgotten your passcode, or the phone gets disabled, use the instructions in this support document to remove the forgotten passcode or remove the disabled status. If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
