from time to time ill be surfing the web and when i go to click something it will highlight everything. not using two fingers and have to restart everytime it happens. suggestions?
If this happens after you made the trackpad software update, this may be the cause:
Open Trackpad settings and uncheck "Tap to Click".
The update seems to have marked that checkbox as default.
After unchecking it you need to click to click, not just tap.

This fixed my problem I have been having the past month. I googled it and never could find anything until now. I did the update and forgot about it. Should have known it could have been the culprit. After unchecking the "Tap to click" the issue went away instantly and has not come back. Thank you for your help!
This just started happening to me randomly as well. Very annoying.
If I single-click a tab in safari it drags it away even after I let go. Same thing happens if I single click an icon on the dock, I let go and when I move my cursor it drags it away and deletes it off the dock.
Yes this has happened to me too!! it's so annoying...i used to restart my computer but now i just tap on the cursor about 5 times really fast and it stops....i still don't understand why it does it though :/ and it started happening to me lately too
This has been driving me insane since the last update--rebooting temporarily fixed this, but it kept coming back. I was googling left and right to no avail. I'll try the tap to click setting change--hopefully that solves it! Thanks for the tip!
