safari can't establish a secure server

I just started getting this when going to sites I've used for years. Haven't made any changes, so can anyone tell me how to fix it?

Go step by step and test.

1. Quit Safari, launch Safari holding the Shift key down.

2 Remove anti-virus software if installed on your Mac.

3. If Safari doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected

4. If Safari says it can't establish a secure connection, or the website is using weak encryption
