Data usage at midnight

In viewing the data usage details on my cellular provider's site, I noticed several day's worth of data usage at exactly 12:00:00 am and pm, and 06:00:00 am and pm. Since no one uses the phone at precisely that time, it seems these might be times Apple uses to download/upload data. Any idea what's going on?

No, this is when your cellular provider is handling your daily data usage. They bill your data in blocks, it makes it much easier for bookkeeping. While your phone may show the individual data usages for the day, the carrier does not do it that way. Not a problem for you.
