Apple pen gen one

My Apple pen first gen wouldn’t even pair when out of the box. I put it in the charger for an hour and still can’t get it to connect to my iPad air gen 4 any helpful tips ?

They're not compatible. Click here for the list of what iPad/Apple Pencil combinations will work.
