Apple Watch Series 3 won't update with WatchOS 7.6. Watch has 1.3gb of available space, I've unpaired 3 times, set up as new and then restarted watch again. Still won't install the OS update

Watch shows as having 1.3gb of available space, I've unpaired 3 times, set the watch up as new and then restarted watch again.

Each time I get the 'Cannot Install Update' 'Unpair watch and ......'

Still won't install the OS update

I've tried installing the update directly from the watch, still no luck

Anyone else have another idea?

Hope this is can help;

You can try to delete watch apps on the iPhone
Check date and time is it correct
Reset network setting
Download watch apps again
Restore Apple Watch
Ensure the connection was stable
Try to pairing again

If still doesn’t fix, call the apple support

I'm having the same problem. Took it to an apple verified store and she reset it for the download again and it started downloading then right when it is about to finish it goes back to "install update". Now my watch is unpaired and no update and it is a never ending cycle.

I decided to give this one last try yesterday before caving and going to the apple store and it worked. I reset the watch to defaults, then deleted every single app directly from the watch that had and 'x' on it after holding down on the home screen like you do on your phone. Then turned back ground refresh and a bunch of other random things off in the phone watch app, then restarted. Ended up with 2.4gb of available space which let the watch update.

Huge PITA to then find the app store to add the apps back that I deleted cause I actually use them.

Lets hope there a no new updates for a while because who needs to do this everytime, when the update is supposedly only like 600mb!

I did the update on the phone with Apple support. I don't recall now exactly how they did it though. I didn't think about the fact that this would happen every time my phone updates its software. Ugh! Probably best answer is that it's time for a new watch :(
