how can i recycle my old imac?

You can take it to any Apple Store or you can also use https://www.apple.com/recycling/nationalservices/

If in the US and not making a purchase, any option for recycling directly through Apple? Also not near a retail store :( Very old (and heavy) Mac Book Pro that will not even start up - time to go. Thanks for any guidance.

It may be dead but the drive may still be good and if you have info on it you wouldn't want to get into anyone else's hands I'd take it out or make sure you get it to Apple.

Call the number at the bottom of this page to get the info you need for recycling with Apple.

It’s completely dead, I can do nothing to it. I just need an address where I can send it for recycling :)
