Why does iTunes Home Sharing randomly stop working, and then without changing anything it starts working again? It’s always done this, for all the years I’ve had the AppleTV device. It doesn’t make sense that it can be any of the settings, on either end. Settings don’t just change on their own, back and forth.

Home sharing still utilizes the wireless network to send content so you may want to run a diagnostic report for the network using istumbler or similar. It will show values for signal strength, noise and also nearby networks. If that shows anything then you will need to make some tweaks. Otherwise, you may want to consult with Apple support for running through more tests, in real time, in order to isolate the issue occurring on your specific setup.

Both the AppleTV and the PC are connected to wired network 5 feet away. Every other app sees the PC, as well as all other PC’s. It starts working all on its own, and can work for several months straight, and then randomly disappears. Only the “Computers” app on the AppleTV has this problem. Nothing has changed on the PC or is ever changed, as far as settings or network preferences.
That would be dependent on the network connection, what troubleshooting have you done?
