IP address

The IP address that my phone is sending out is different from what it should be assigned from my router. In fact, it’s making it seem as if my phone is in Sweden causing confusion with my bank and other such entities. Why isn’t my phone using my routers IP address? It’s very annoying having to prove that I’m the one signing into everything because my phone is telling them I’m on a different continent.

It's nothing you've done, it's that your ISP likely ran out of IP addresses and obtained an additional pool to use but didn't consider how it would affect services that attempt to geolocate by IP address.

The bottom line is you should contact your ISP and notify them of the issue and the problem it is causing.

Are you connected via Wi-Fi or Cellular?

If cellular, your IP address is assigned by your cellular carrier.

If Wi-Fi, it will be the IP address assigned to your router by your ISP.

You can see what the outside world thinks your IP address is by clicking here.

If you are on Wi-Fi, do the same from multiple devices; most often if you are behind a router it should show the same address from any device on your network, and that should help you narrow down the issue. (For example, if your phone and computer show the same address, it's your ISP assigning your router an out-of-area IP address.)

Tried it on my laptop and sure enough it’s also showing an out of area public IP.

Why have I never run into this problem before is what I’m wondering now. I haven’t changed anything through my ISP. I’m assuming I’ve been getting assigned dynamic public IP addresses this whole time.

That's a question you'll have to ask your ISP.
