Hi, My 15 yo daughter and I look alike. Possibly so much so, that she can open my phone using face ID. I understand that her picking up my phone for me and holding it up to my face could play a role (because it scans her face when she picks it up), but that rarely occurs. Has this happened to anyone else?

There are family members who have such similar datapoints when faces are scanned that the device unlocks, yes. The odds of some random person being able to unlock your phone using Face ID is probably north of 1 in a million.
You can always reset your Face ID or use a passcode if it's a big issue.
