Big Sur and Canon MG3650

I recently got a MacBook running Big Sur and migrated everything across from my old iMac.

I'm struggling to get the scanner part of the MG3650 to work. I've tried reinstalling the Canon drivers (always fails) and I've tried setting up Air Print, as has been described in a previous thread on here.

The problem seems to be getting the connection to the scanner in the first place. As soon as anything tries to connect to the scanner I get a finder pop-up saying "The application 'Canon IJScanner15f' can't be opened.", with a number 6 below the message. Really not sure what else I should be doing. Googling for an answer goes round and round in circles.

I've tried installing the latest printer drivers too. Still get the same message.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

Have you also tried the IJ Scan Utility Lite Ver.3.3.1 (Mac) (14 April 2021), available in the Software section of the support page?

It may be a good idea to reset the printing system before you begin.

Reset the Mac printing system to solve a problem - Apple Support

Add a printer on Mac - Apple Support

When using AirPrint (About AirPrint - Apple Support), make sure that the printer and the computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router).

Hello again,

Would anything mentioned under Precaution (seven items) for the misd-mac-ijscanner15f-4_1_3-ea21_3.dmg file apply?

Scanning with an AirPrint PIXMA model is described in this section:

https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/apple_airprint_guide/#Scanning_Mac

If necessary, power cycle devices connected to the network in this order: Power off the router, the printer, the computer, and all other computers and devices. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the computer. Finally, power on all other computers and devices.

Any change if you try USB instead of a network connection, or vice versa?

Make sure that not needed/suitable/compatible software is removed. Also, it is essential to have (multiple) backup copies of all important files (documents, photos, et cetera) before testing anything.

Having the same problem under Big Sur (currently 11.5.1) with my Canon MB6050. Printer is added using Airprint. Whether I try to use the Mac (e.g. Printers and Scanners or Image Capture) or Canon utilities I get the "You do not have permission to open the application “Canon IJScanner14f.app”. " message. Works fine under a Mac running Catalina (my current workaround :-))
