Well if the External Drive is formatted to something Apple Computer can not understand like Ext4 ( linux format ) the Only option is to reformat it to something Apple does understand like HFS Journaled or Fat32 or exFat and with special software and Read and Write to Windows NTFS format.

Lastly - how are the drives connected to computer > Are the Directly connected ? is a HUB in between the External Drive and Computer ?

Hi,

I have the same issue too. Earlier it was working properly but after updating it to Big Sur V11.4 Apple M1, it didn't work. When trying to mount my external hdd it shows below error.

Could not mount “4TB”. (com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 49180.)

To erase or format the drive is not a solution. I hope you will understand and please let us know some feasible solution.

Thanks,
