Photos takes more than 5GB despite images are stored in iCloud

I have used 129 of 200Gb of iCloud storage so there's room to store a lot of data.

Apps using iCloud -> On

I guess Photos uses iPad to store thumbnails but 5Gb seems a lot for me.

What could be taking that amount of space?

photos take so much space on icloud . i have the 200 gb plan on icloud and ive checked it today to see how much space is left for me , and found out that 120 gb is taken by photos , i dont have that much photos and i dont delete from my phone when its backed up , ive checked iphone storage and it says that i have 2.6 gb of photos , how is this possible that photos take this much space on icloud (120gb) , does anyone know what is happening ? thanks

Photos take up more space than my storage Hello, When I check my "iPhone Storage" on my iPhone 12 Mini's settings, the photos seem to occupy my storage more than its limit. I also have 50 GB of iCloud+ where 42 GB of it is used up and continuing to sync. I wanted to see what kind of apps take up how much space so I could clean them but even when I calculate, sum of my all photos (the ones in iCloud+ included) and all the other apps (system, etc. too) is less than 128+50 GB, but this is not how my iPhone shows it. Also, on iCloud Photos settings, "optimize iPhone storage" has always been turned on (for like 8 years now.) Thank you in advance for any kind of help.

Photos taking up too much GB even after I upload my photos to Icloud So I was just looking at my Iphone Storage, and I found out that the Photos is taking up so much GB, which doesn’t make sense to me at all because I have uploaded everything to my Icloud. Please take a look at the picture i will attach down bellow and help me with a solution please. thank you.

5GB is not a lot however that depends on how many photos you have and what is the actual total size of the Photos library on iCloud. Do you have Optimize iPad Storage set to ON in Settings ➔ Photos ? Double check that setting. If the setting is set to ON and you have more than 50GB of photos on iCloud, then the 5GB of low resolution photos on iPad is normal.
