Are you having difficulties with both sending and receiving email on your iPad for this account - or just one or other?

If the problem affects both, has your email provider switched to using App Specific Passwords? If so, you will need to generate a unique password for your iPad email account - that will differ from your normal Account Password. As examples - AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft all use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.

Whilst your Mac may not yet be affected, any change to the account set-up on the computer may trigger the change - without necessarily affecting other devices.

If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.

For Yahoo, more information can be found here:

For Gmail:

Use of a New App Password:

You may need to use a new app password. If you are using different devices, then you need one for each device. So, contact your eMail provider to find out how to get an App Password.

For Example:

As an example, for AOL Mail, Go Here: Create and Manage Third-Party App Passwords - AOL Help
