Battery drain in airplane mode - SE watch

Hi,

im wondering why my watch is draining 10-20% of the battery overnight while in airplane mode (wifi and Bluetooth off), no sleep tracking, no fitness tracking, no ECG.

When connected to my phone at work, it only drains 11% of normal use. I am confused why the battery drain is greater in airplane mode with everything off when the watch is supposedly doing “nothing”

Any advice or explanations?

thanks

Hello jing jing,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you have a question about how to conserve battery life on your Apple Watch. We're happy to help.

When a pair iPhone isn't nearby to use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, your Apple Watch will attempt to connect using cellular data. (If you have a cellular model) You can find more information here: About Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular on your Apple Watch as mentioned "Your Apple Watch uses Bluetooth when your iPhone is near, which conserves power."

You can also find helpful information for maximizing battery life on your Apple Watch here: Maximizing Battery Life and Lifespan

When not nearby your paired iPhone, you can also use Power Reserve. Check out the steps here: Check your battery and charge your Apple Watch

Best!
