My iphone 12 (purchased Oct. 2020) screen keeps getting very dark.
Even on the brightest setting, it’s sometimes too dark to see, especially in the sunlight.
It keeps “Self-adjusting” to the middle brightness setting too.
Any suggestions?

Try Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Auto-Brightness = “off”.

tried all your suggestions like turning auto brightness off etc,,, nothing helps
PLEASE FIX THIS ANNOYING DEFECT OR GIVE US A WORK AROUND SOLUTION!!
Also, when turning brightness down and back up to try and adjust it, (per an apple tech support persons suggestion), basically rendered the phone useless since wasn’t able to turn brightness back up. Touch screens are great but when you are outside and you must have your phone for safety reasons and you have a black screen and can’t use it… it’s a real problem. Should have a way to brighten screen to allow use if in an emergency by using buttons. Let’s get past all the bells and whistles for a minute and think about a life saving event. I would hope that apple is concerned about safety and security! Please consider a fix to this annoying safety hazard with your iPhone.
