I’ve tried using several methods but after using all the correct settings it won’t work. I have seen that many people have problems in adding another gmail/google account to the iPad/iPhone native mail app. Any solutions that work?

You can add as many as you would like, I have 5 set up on my phone. There shouldn't be much to do in settings as much of the setup is automatic.
Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts
You might find it easier to remove the accounts that aren't working and try again.
