"Uploading to iCloud Music Library" stuck - songs won't play across devices

It seems this isn't just me, and I assume the fix has to come from Apple, but just in case:

Songs take FOREVER to be shared across devices, and solely non-Apple files - Amazon, imported from CD, etc. The album will show up on other devices, but the songs are grayed out / not -accessible on devices that rely on the cloud to share and listen to the files. I am an iTunes Match and Apple Music Subscriber.

My most recent example comes from download files that came with a vinyl. After a four hours, 2/10 tracks showed up as playable on my other devices. Twenty four hours later, 6/10 tracks were available, then it seemed to stop, although "Uploading to Cloud Music Library" continues to spin on my Mac's Music app. The progress bar makes it maybe 1/2 way with "uploading remaining songs and artwork" showing up usually the first time after a mac restart, otherwise just the "uploading to..." message is all I see.

The files all play on the Mac itself. The issue is solely uploading to the Cloud Music Library and being able to share, and play, the songs on other devices.

I've noticed this on multiple albums in the past week, and only ones that are not purchased from Apple. Last week, I went back and deleted the files themselves, re-added, and chose them individually to "add to cloud library" by selecting the cloud icon beside the track time. It took many attempts and was immensely frustrating. What worked last week is not working now, as the final three tracks of the latest album refuse to show as playable across devices.

If anyone is dealing with this also and found a solution, I'd be grateful. In the meantime, I hope Apple address it sooner rather than lager. Thank you!

Hi bazapple,

Let’s see if we can help out and get your music sharing. From all you described, you done a lot of work on your own already.

I know these may sound simple, but sometimes simple is the fix. One thing you didn’t mention, are your devices all updated? What about iCloud storage, do you have plenty of storage space available?

If either of those are not the answer, we recommend reaching out to Apple Support. They can be reached at Get Support.

Best of luck!

Hi jdo_apple - thanks for the reply, and “yes” to both things you mentioned.

With all due respect, I’ll hold off on contacting Apple Support. It will likely take at least 45-60 minutes of hold time & troubleshooting with a level one specialist who will share articles I am already aware of and advice I’ve already tried before I have to start over with a senior advisor.

It does seem to be an issue affecting more than just me, though, so hopefully Apple will fix it soon. In the meantime, I’ll avoid the frustration of adding any non-apple music files to my library, which should avoid triggering the issue iTunes Match / Music is currently experiencing. Frustrating, as I’m paying for the services, but the less maddening option at the moment. :)

Thanks again!
