Macbook Pro 13" mid 2014. Since Big Sur update battery charging hangs on 56%. Below battery status there is a message "Battery is not charging" and if I unplug MagSafe Macbook turns off immediately. Reboot, reset SMC, NVRAM does not help. I Checked the adapter with other Macbook and it works just fine. Any soltion for the issue?
If the computer can not function on Battery Power at ALL - really need to have it Evaluated and or Battery Replaced.
Has there been any computer Warning to Service Battery.
Batteries are considered Consumable Products. Over time it will degrade to a point where it needs to be replaced. The usage is normal as the capacity will go up and down all the time and never stay always at 100%. Apple Batteries are rated for 1000 Full Battery Cycles and / or 80% Capacity before needing Evaluation or replacement.

A feature introduced into Big Sur was to preserve the number of Full Battery Cycles - there was an Algorithm coded into the macOS. It is perfectly Normal for Big Sur to Pause / Suspend charging the battery beyond 80% and hold it at that level. One can nudge / over-ride this by clicking the Battery Icon on Desktop Top Bar and allow charging beyond 80%. From observations, it will Pause / Suspend again once reading 90%. Same procedure to over-ride and will charge to 100%

Redo the SMC and NVRAM resets like 3 or 4 times in a row each and then restart holding Shift to load macOS in Safe Mode
Check if the problem happens there too.
If yes, I advise you to try a clean install of Big Sur.
If you decide to go for a clean install, here's a quick guide:
First, backup to an external drive (always do that before updating or upgrading macOS versions). In your case I'd say simply copy paste your personal data because the is going to be reinstalled from zero.
Create a bootable installer How to create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support
Restart holding Option and choose the installer. It'll load Recovery Mode.
Once loaded, open Disk Utility and completely wipe the disk, erase everything, all volumes and partition.
Close DU and start installation.
Once done, setup your Mac as new, allow it to update everything it asks for and check the battery condition.
Reinstall you apps and copy back your data.
If that doesn't work, you better call Apple Support and then take your Mac to an Apple Store or Authorized for a proper check.
All you describe is obvious, but it's not my case. Big Sur recognises the battery in normal condition with 20 charging cycles because I used to use Macbook connected to power of Thunderbolt Display. Please look at system info. Anyhow thank you for response.
It seems I've solved the issue. I removed the back cover and disconnected the battery. Then I connected it back. MacBook started without connecting the power adapter and battery is charging after power is connected. Not sure this way will work for every one.
I’ve passed all steps except clean install. Nothing. One extra note. A year ago I replaced the battery by myself and it was not original one, but it keep charge level perfectly. I think to roll back to Catalina to check if it’s software issue.
Thank you for the reply. Should I disconnect MagSafe when reseting SMC? Remembering that Macbook does not work without power supply. There are different instructions for that. Any way I try.
