Need tips to keep my hotspot on always

I think it’s more likely the carriers don’t like users to keep the hotspot on. If the connection is idle for a period of time it is disconnected. Why should the smartphone vendors care whether the hotspot is on or not?

My suggestion is to get a stand-alone MyFi or similar device on your account. They stay on as long as their battery lasts, or forever if they are plugged in. Mine shares my mobile data, and adds $20 a month to my bill. And I can leave it on even when I take my phone somewhere else. And it’s faster than the hotspot.

I'm guessing it's because the security camera is not always on? For the personal hotspot to keep a continuous connection to another device, the other device needs to be continuously on. I also think it's possible your iPhone screen would need to be on without going to sleep. When the screen goes to sleep and the device it's connected to isn't on before the screen goes to sleep, the connection will be put to sleep to conserve battery on your phone.

I don't have any other suggestions. I rarely if ever use Hot Spot services. I have too many devices requiring Wifi which includes laptops, smart home devices, security cameras, iPads, Ring Doorbell, etc., that I pay for whole house Wifi.

To your assertion smart phone vendors don't like users to have a choice, would be wrong. It means nothing to Apple. It does mean something to the cellular provider however, who is the one providing the actual Hot Spot service. Apple doesn't provide Hot Spot at all.

Ah, more information. Some carriers cannot do simultaneous voice and data.
