Merging contacts messages and data onto new phone

I recently needed to move over to an Android (LG stylo 5) phone while awaiting a new iphone. It took longer then expected to get ( a month).

During that time I have added a lot of contacts, photos and messages that I would like to keep and hopefully merge with my existing iPhone backup. I also made a backup to my google account and drive of what I could before I decommissioned my old iPhone.

Initially I tried restoring from iCloud but I could not use the “move to iOS” app after setup. Then I tried erasing the new iPhone and started with the “move to iOS” app and was successful in moving my messages and photos over but my old iMessage data is missing and of course all my iOS settings, contacts and apps are gone as well.

I have yet to finish logging into all my accounts to see if all my contacts backed up to google populate. Before I waste my effort and time is there anything I am missing?

TIA

Well I think I worked it out. I logged out of iCloud, leaving the data on the phone. Logged back into iCloud/Apple ID, then settings > Apple ID > iCloud>Messages>off>on.

So far it seems to have worked, well for my messages anyway. My contacts did populate as well after logging back in.

As far as settings and apps thats just going to take some time. 😒
