iPhone 12 - display refresh rate.

Hello. I would like to ask you something. I wanted to buy an iPhone 12 but I noticed that its display only has a standard 60hz refresh rate. Many Android phones already have 90 or 120hz displays.

Do you have any comparison of iPhone 60hz versus Samsung 120hz? Is 60hz and 120hz on the phone display a big difference? Does the 60hz display still offer a first-class user experience?

Thank You.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities dominik191,

Thank you for contacting us. You have come to the right place and we are happy to assist you.  If we understand correctly, you are asking about the quality of the iPhone 12 display.  We can understand why you’d reach out. The display does have a 60hz refresh rate, which means it's refreshing 60 times per second. This small difference is not very noticeable because of the fast moving images and does not affect the clarity of the picture. However, you do have all the below key features which do offer the first class user experience you are asking about.

https://www.apple.com/iphone-12-pro/key-features/

  • HDR display
  • Super Retina XDR display
  • True Tone
  • Wide color (P3)
  • Haptic Touch
  • 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio (typical)
  • 800 nits max brightness (typical); 1200 nits max brightness (HDR)
  • Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating
  • Support for display of multiple languages and characters simultaneously

Hope this answers your question.

Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities.

Best regards.
