I've just got new 24" M1 iMac running MacOs Big Sur 10.15.1 and my Apple Superdrive isn't working when plugged in via a USB adapter. It worked on my 27" iMac running Catalina. When I open System Information it shows, but a pop up says 'USB ACCESSORY NEEDS POWER Connect "Apple USB SuperDrive" to a USB port on this Mac.'
The new 24" iMac doesn't have a USB socket the Superdrive can plug directly to. Can anyone help

Oh, I meant with the adapter of course. Some USB hubs are known for not providing enough power to devices in which case the recommendation is to bypass the hub.

If you are using a USB hub, try connecting the SuperDrive directly to the Mac.

That's not possible with an M1 24" iMac.
FWIW, I just tested a SuperDrive on my M1 MaBook Air with the AV Adapter. It works fine so it should work with an M1 iMac.
