earlgreyer,

Are you using other devices or apps to track your activity? If so, are those other devices/apps added as sources for your Health app? This would help provide a more accurate count. Check out how to do so here: Manage Health data on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch.

Also, check out this article, so you can verify that your information is set up correctly and correct activities are set to track: Use the Health app on your iPhone or iPod touch

Hope that helps!

earlgreyer,

You can also take a look at Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness and be sure that both Fitness Tracking and Health are enabled? You can also toggle them both off and back on to refresh it. Be sure to restart your iPhone after performing that step: Restart your iPhone.

If this continues, you may want to reach out to Apple Support for further assistance. Depending on your location, you may be able to reach them here: Get Support.

Have a good one!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities earlgreyer,

From our understanding, your iPhone is not correctly calculating your steps, is that right? We didn't see an iOS or iPhone model tagged in your post, what iOS do you have installed? What model iPhone? Do you use any other device such as an Apple Watch to track your steps or are you only using your iPhone?

Since noticing that your steps weren't being tracked, has your iPhone been restarted?

Restart your iPhone

Hello I used to have and iPhone 7 and I now have an iPhone 12 iOS 14.7.1 but am having the problem with both phones. The Health app constantly under reads the km/ miles that I do when I walk. I know this because I walk with others and their readings are appropriate to the distance walked. I'm not sure if it's to do with step length but that is calculated automatically isn't it?
