How can I prevent my texts from going to my husband's iPad?

One solution:
Go to your husband's iPad settings, click on the owner's name at the top left, then sign out of that Apple ID
If you create or sign in to a different Apple ID, you shouldn't have that problem anymore
Alternately, you could go through the same operation on your other Apple device
