iTunes now wants a cellular or wifi connection to hear purchased music.

I have lots of purchased iTunes music on my iPhone 6plus. Now Music on my iPhone is asking for a cellular or wifi connection to listen to this music. (This was never a requirement). So how do I listen to this on a flight or when camping (out of cell phone range)?

It sounds as if your content is in the cloud rather than on the device. See Add music to iPhone and listen offline - Apple Support.
