Contacts between IOS and exchange - used to sync seamlessly, but not any longer?

I have used exchange as my master database for contacts, mail and calendar and have always had a seamless integration/sync for contacts between the IOS contacts in iCloud or on my devise and the Outlook on a computer until now (not recent, maybe 6 or more months ago I noticed the change).

Bottom line question can I no longer edit my iCloud contacts on my IOS devices (ipad and iphone), and have them update in exchange and vice versa? What is the best way to keep these systems in sync?

Greetings tracypureromance,

We understand that you’re wanting to sync contacts between two services, iCloud and an Exchange server.

While you can have more than one account enabled and syncing data on your iPhone, it typically is not syncing the same data, unless that data is stored once on each sync server. That would mean once on iCloud and once on the Exchange server. If your contacts are only syncing with your Exchange account, or if that’s how you prefer it, you’ll want to be sure in Settings > Contacts the Exchange account is the default account. Then turn off your iCloud sync in Settings > your name > iCloud and check to see if all your contacts remain on your device.

Here’s how get the Exchange account set up and syncing - Set up Exchange ActiveSync on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
