Imported clips from iPhone 12 Pro to iMovie are washed-out

I use iMovie all the time. Now, when I import video clips from my iPhone 12 Pro (which I have done for 6 months with zero issues), the clips appear over-exposed and washed-out. If I open the file in Quicktime, it looks fine, but when I import the file to iMovie it's all washed-out. MacBook Pro 2015. Movie 10.1.14.

The washed out appearance of the iPhone clips likely is happening because they were recorded in the HDR format that your iMovie version does not support.

To fix the problem, go to your iPhone video settings and switch out of HDR.
