Good morning,
I could use some help here.
This morning, I had clicked on the Text Edit icon in the dock and the documents have disappeared?
There is nothing there.
I had 6 last night.
I do not recall doing anything at all to cause this.
Thanks to anyone with suggestions.

Just because you open the TextEdit.app does not mean all your past TextEdit documents appear...
Where did you save them to(?)—look there.

There is nothing there.
It had occurred to me, that yesterday I viewed a video on how to get rid of "Documents and Data" on iPhone.
I wonder, whether I had deleted something in iCloud to clear up space on the phone.
I just opened Text Edit, opened a new document, typed the word "Test" and that document is there. The others are not.
I'm assuming I did something and they are gone.
With this additional information re:iPhone deletion of iCloud Folder TextEdit - they are gone.
Now, the last line in @ leroydouglas post above offer a solution - Time Machine Backup and restore the TextEdit files
Check in iCloud for the folder labeled TestEdit. They might be there.

I’ve tried that. The documents are not in iCloud or Text Edit.
They seem nowhere to be found.
When you open TextEdit >> File << in Menu Bar >> " Open Recent " what appears there ??
my text edit documents have disappeared???
