An unknown error occurred (14)

I tried using iTunes to update my refurbished iPad. Made a backup first. And then it died and apparently I no longer have an operating system on it. I've been trying to restore it but keep getting the same goddamn error which tells me nothing. I click for help and I only get this piece of **** article which tells me about as much as the informationless error I keep ******* getting. I now own a ******* brick because I was trying to use Apple's own product to update it. I've restarted both my computer and the device, and then literally turned off all the protection on my computer (firewall and antivirus software) and still get some unknown error. I have tried everything on that article and still nothing works to restore my iPad.

Any goddamn suggestions would be helpful here.
