Is the iPhone 6 battery recall still going on..?

Heya,

I have a older 2nd hand iPhone 6 (I know the 1st owner personally) and the battery has been just terrible. The Battery Health is at 52%, and no, I can't turn on optimized battery charging because it didn't exist in iOS 12. It's not my main iPhone anymore because the battery problem got much too bad (I have a Lilac 11 with a cracked screen, I cracked it) and I had heard that back in 2018 Apple put out a recall on the batteries in them. Is that still happening, and if so is the recall to replace the battery at a discount or for free..?

Best wishes to you all,

Ethan.

There is no battery recall. There never was a battery recall. There was a reduced price battery replacement program, but that ended long ago. You can schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and pay $49 to have the battery replaced. But that would NOT be a wise investment in such an old phone, which cannot run the newer generation iOS versions and many modern apps won't run on.
