Drowned iPhone 11 Pro

Hello,

I would like to share an experience I had with an IPhone 11 Pro, nearly six months ago ask for an opinion.

On feb the 7 th, I had an accident and fell into a basement of an abandoned house which had over 3 meters of ice cold water.

in the process I lost my iPhone 11 Pro which sunk to the bottom and due to the extreme conditions I could not retrieve it.

it stayed under 3 meters of ice cold water for over 5 months and despite many attempts to find it, I could not locate it due to the fact that the water was really muddy and there was not enough visibility.

finally in July I was able to retrieve it much to my delight and despite having been under water for nearly half a year, I dried it, cleaned it as i could and plugged it in the charger after 2 weeks of drying…

To my complete amazement, the phone switched on, charged to 100 % and is working perfectly fine to this moment as I moved my SIM card again and I am using as my main phone again:)

Do you think I should take it to be serviced and checked or since it’s running perfectly there is no need to bother?

thanks ..:)

Some phones will actually resist water for that long. We generally only hear about the ones that leaked.

Bu all means have it checked but you could take out the SIM tray and look for a red indicator patch. If there is none then it survived ingress.

The would be the initial Genius Bar check.

My preference would be to use it but to backup at least weekly. That should be the general advice anyway,
