My background is black all of a sudden on my ipad and photos look like weird colors and grey
How do I fix this back to white background and photos not look like negatives of photos

It sounds like you're having trouble with the color of your photos on the iPhone.
You may have enabled an effect in Portrait mode. Open Camera, and select the Portrait option. From there, see if you can change the effects of the photos that will be taken. Learn more here about portrait mode here: Use Portrait mode on your iPhone - Apple Support
