Why didn’t some of my apps get transferred over to my IPhone 12
How come when I switched from the IPhone XS to get the IPhone 12 most of my apps didn’t get recovered?

You can go to the App Store and redownload apps that did not transfer. Just click on the small cloud icon. If the App is no longer available, you will not be able to get it.
