Green dot appears briefly when phone is locked

The green dot appears when I wake up my phone by pressing the side button. In the cc it shows that no app is using the camera . Camera access is turned off for all the apps and it is still happening. Face ID is switched off completely and it still happening. I have iPhone 12 with the latest version of iOS. How it is possible that all camera access has been turned off for all the apps including FaceTime and Face ID yet my iPhone is using camera when phones wakes up?

iPhone 12, iOS 14

Hello giannis114,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are seeing the green dot on the top of your iPhone (indicating camera use) unexpectedly. We definitely understand that can be a concern and we'd love to help. Let’s start by reviewing this article: About the orange and green indicators in your iPhone status bar. As it explains: “A green indicator means either the camera or the camera and the microphone are being used by an app on your iPhone.”

If you are seeing this indicator, something is still definitely on. If you close down all of the apps on your iPhone (which is only suggested in situations like this), does the green dot go away? Do you only see this on the Lock Screen or the Home Screen?

Please let us know if you have follow-up questions about this issue, or if the issue remains unresolved. Have a great day!
