Change name of source…will I get in trouble.

When I upgraded from prev AppleTV to ATVK…setup was cranky about primary input device. Reluctant to show all my apps, etc., when I listed set top box as AppleTV4K. So, i used "OTHER BOX". That was early days. Now, assured about capabilities, everything runs as assigned, ready to backtrack to assignments. If I just proceed to the magic page…click on Set top box…somehow change name hopefully through option offering me AppleTV… 1. Will it recognize all the options afforded by my existing setup including apps…or 2. Run the risk of deletions and have to re-enter, re-jigger, everything?

You can change the name of your Apple TV box at any time. Settings﹥General﹥About﹥Name﹥.

Your other Apple devices should use that name for communication with Apple TV.

Third party devices may or may not use that name for recognition of the device. Some third party devices (TV, receiver) may have their own naming for ports rather than for connected devices.
