I want to keep my current music folders as folders when I transfer to new iphone 11 but only the songs are sent. I dont use play lists

So I have many many folders with music organized for my listening enjoyment.

I just bought my first Iphone (iphone 11) shocked I can not find a way to use the folder

structure. In fact almost like folders are bad. I used itunes created playlist, moved content of

a music folder into the play list and even that does not work. I only get the songs the list

is removed. I also tried syncios to move folders but it only moved the content. I tried to make playlist

on the phone but i found that songs can be entered into more than one list, not good.

Am I missing something or is this how iphone works?

iPhone 11, iOS 14

Good afternoon harryfromirmo,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

Congratulations on the purchase of your iPhone 11!

It sounds like you need some help getting music from your computer onto your iPhone, and we'd like to help.

Do you have a Mac or a Windows PC?

Music is synced from your iTunes Library (or Music library if you have a newer Mac) to your iPhone.

The best practice is to create playlists in your iTunes library first.

The resources below will provide some guidance:

Update to the latest version of iTunes

Intro to playlists in iTunes on PC

Use iTunes to sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod with your computer

Sync music between your Mac and iPhone or iPad

Listen to music and more in the Apple Music app on the iPhone

If the issue persists, please reply to this thread and we'll do our best to help you!

Take care.

Hi harryfromirmo,

Music is added to your iPhone either from the iTunes library on your Windows PC, or streamed or downloaded from a subscription service like Apple Music, or purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Store. The operating system on an iPhone is completely different from a computer operating system. Here are some additional resources for iTunes for Windows. Are you running the most current version of Windows 10 on your PC?

Create, delete, and use playlists in iTunes on PC

Sync iTunes content on PC with your devices

Take care.
