Don't own an Apple TV but Phone gave me a notification from Apple Keyboard ‘Choose a password to autofill’.

I’ve got no Apple TV, not on my wifi either. I got this notification which was this: ‘Press to choose a saved password to share to a nearby Apple TV’.

I tapped on it by accident and it just said ‘loading’ and then nothing came up.

Has someone in my area managed to get one of my passwords? I didn’t tap anything further (as there was nothing to tap).

This is the notification.

This feature requires that the Apple TV and and the iPhone use the same Apple ID account (for iCloud). Use the iOS or iPadOS keyboard to enter text on Apple TV - Apple Support. Could there be an Apple TV box using that account?

Do you have two-factor authentication for your Apple ID? Then you would be notified if your account was used on a device for the first time.

It suggests that some Apple TV box nearby is already using your account, before this message popped up.

Activating this text input feature allows the user of the phone to select an iCloud Keychain password for entry on Apple TV. It only shares what the phone user selects to be shared (e.g. a single account password for a third party service). It is only useful if you also see the screen, so that you know what is asked for. If you didn’t tap anything further, then nothing was shared at this time.

You can turn it off in your iPhone settings. Settings﹥Notifications﹥Apple TV Keyboard﹥Allow Notifications﹥Off.

If you think your account password is compromised, then you are advised to change the password asap. You will need to (sign out and) sign in again on all your devices. Change your Apple ID password - Apple Support

Hi, thank you for taking the time to respond.

Could there be an Apple TV box using that account?

If there was, I would see it in the list of my devices, correct?

Furthermore, could Bluetooth have something to do with it or Airplay?

Do you have two-factor authentication for your Apple ID?

Yes, I do. Currently where I have to allow a device sign in and enter a code. Or is there a better way?

The strange thing is that this happened while I was at a park next to a community center. A few hours later I went back around the same area and sure enough I got the same notification again. Aside from that, I was never prompted again with this notification.

Thank you for this, I have followed your instructions to turn off the notifications and changed my appleid and password just to be sure.

I had the same thing happen to me while driving today and was several miles from home. I received a notification asking if i wanted to transfer passwords to an apple tv. I have never owned or used an apple tv and there should not be anyone using my account but me. Also i noticed that an apple tv logo showed up on my quick links (where you can turn on flashlight, go to camera etc.). It seemed like some sort of exploit that added the apple tv to my phone and asked me to sync my passwords to it. I will turn off apple tv notifications but how do I remove the apple tv from my phone?
