Control center widgets?

Added Control center widgets (stocks, notes, reminders) but they are not active. You click on them and they launch the app. Is this the correct operation?

The widgets should be activated by pressing F6 (toggle) and they should just display current information. Yes, you can click on them, and by example, the weather widget will open the Weather channel web page in Safari. Some widgets, (e.g. Weather) you can right-click on to change their size and the type of information reported inherent with that size change.
