Watch won’t update.

I attempted to update my watch with my old XR but didn’t finish the update. I recently bought a new iPhone 12. Now I am trying to pair my new phone and my watch but when I do it prompts me to update the watch but then says I’m not connected to the internet. How do I fix this?! It just gets stuck on the updating screen. And I can’t go to update setting on the phone app because it’s never been paired with this phone before. Edit: I’ve already tried unpairing and restarting everything several times.

Did you already try the troubleshooting mentioned in this article, especially setting it up as a new device?

The only three things my watch will do is ask for the phone to pair, then show the static looking pair thing then that prompts my phone for the update. Lastly it will change to the update screen while my phone does its thing and then tells my it’s not connected to the internet. I don’t even get the option of seeing apps.
