Boot Camp updates

By what means does Apple provide updates for Boot Camp? I can see for example that in May 2021 there was an update to Boot Camp version 6.1.14, but when I check the installed version of Boot Camp Assistant it's 6.1.0, even though I'm running the most current version of Big Sur. I don't actually use Boot Camp – perhaps that has something to do with it – but I'm curious.
