Resetting one iPhone of two with the same content

Hi guys. I bought a new iPhone 12 and when I switched it on, it automatically transferred all the data from my old iPhone 8. Then i gave the 8 to my son as it was and later noticed that now we share photo library and if we delete photos on one phone it disappears from the other. Now I want to reset iPhone 8 to factory settings so my son has a new empty phone, but afraid to do so because I fear it can delete all my carena roll, on iPhone 12, is it possible?

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 14

That's because you just gave your son, a phone which shares your Apple ID and already had your data on it. You didn't prepare the phone properly for your son. This is what you should have done before you gave him the phone and what you need to do now --> What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Once you have done this, you need to set up your sons phone with his own unique Apple ID. If he is a minor, you may wish to use parental controls and set up family sharing. Links below will help you with this as well:
