Apple Watch Workouts

I use the "paddling" workout for SUP. Gives time and HR, but not distance traveled. Kinda basic. Today I paddled RT 2 miles along the coast catching a few waves at the reefs as I went. Disappointing no gps distance measured. Wave count might be asking too much.
