HDMI-CEC won’t turn on on Apple TV

I have an Apple TV 4K that is a couple of years old. It used to work fine with my TV (Samsung) and sound bar through CEC. Turning on the Apple TV turned on the TV and sound bar and the remote controlled the volume on the sound bar. With the latest TvOS update, 14.7, it doesn’t work any more. The “Control TVs and Receivers” setting is off and does not turn on. Is there anything I can do to get it to work?

Try resetting the HDMI connection by disconnecting the cable on both sides. Then connect again, and retry the setting.

Try a cold restart: Turn off the TV and Apple TV. Not sleep/standby, but really off. Disconnect from power if you have to. Then start both up again. That would also re-initialize the HDMI connection, including internal circuitry. Retry the setting.
