You will need to go into your account in order to select the subscription and cancel, as per the article. Unless someone else had access to the account the item would have been authorized from you. If you were a first time subscriber then it would come with a trial, and if you cancel within that time there would be no charge. However, once on a paid subscription then you can only cancel future payments (a refund can still be requested from Apple but it would it is on a case by case basis and no guarantee).
