Desktop Background Image Keeps Changing Itself

My Desktop Background Settings are not set to change photos ever. Yet, it seems to do so just about every time I shut it down or restart it? Gets annoying having to fight with it after a while. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Thumbnails don't match the background when I try to change the desktop background When I try to choose a photo from my Photos to put as my desktop background, the thumbnails I select are never the photo that shows up as the background. For example, if I have photos of a horse, a dog, and a cat, and I select the thumbnail image of the cat, the horse will show up as the background. I have tried to close and restart, as well as restart my computer. Any suggestions would be helpful. It's frustrating because I have thousands of photos, and I now just have a plain yellow background because I couldn't find any of the photos I was actually looking for. Side note, when I attempt to choose from an "album", the contents of the album are also wrong.

Default Backgrounds no longer downloaded after update Hey, for a few months, I've noticed the default wallpapers that you can download randomly get removed, and you have to download them again. After updating to 12.6 and then to 13.0 I've noticed them disappear both times. Do they just get removed after rebooting/updating or is there another issue? Can I stop this somehow? It kind of annoys me as I'm often in environments with bad or no internet connection and have the urge to have this stuff on demand. I know, very specific. Every time I've asked about this, I've been told that it's a minor bug and I should wait for the next update After checking, it seems that they really reset on reboot

cropped images as desktop background I have several cropped images I use as desktop backgrounds. In 11.3 these showed correctly. But in 11.3.1, the original uncrossed images are displayed. They display correctly in Photo, just not as a desktop background. Anyone else have this issue or any suggestions to fix it?

Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

If this is a Intel Mac and no resolve —

Try resetting the SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
