IPHONE4 not working when placed on FLAT surface (i.e. Table)

Anyone experiencing Touchscreen not functioning when IPHONE4 is placed on flat surface such as table?

Is it normal or my phone is faulty?

Also bottom corner (about 5mm) become insensitive after applying Privacy Touchscreen. Anyone has this problem as well?

IPHONE4, iOS 4

Same thing happened to me. It could be in my pocket all day and no problem. Lay it down on a table for ten minutes and dead. I would have to reset the phone to start it back up.

Took it to apple and they gladly exchanged it for another one. Said that something was corrupt.

Long story short. Take it back.

Good luck

I have the same problem. BUT it seems to only happen when I have it connected via a non apple charger. Scrolling through contacts and it just goes haywire - if i pick a contact it randomly picks another. If I then click on 'All contacts' it then thinks I've pressed the number and starts dialling! eek!

Anyone else seen this?

NOTE : This is only when charging via non apple charger and lying on a flat surface by the way.

If I was to return it for an exchange, what would happen with my invisishield which I have on all 6 sides? Any ideas? Thanks

Does this non-Apple charger include the "made for iPhone" certification on the packaging and product documentation? Does the same occur with the Apple charger? If no to both, you wasted your money.

You will be purchasing and installing another invisishield. Apple's warranty does not include/cover 3rd party products.

no to both. However, I was previously using the non apple charger to charge my ipod nano (2nd gen). It still charges the iphone fine - but i'm not sure behaving in this. Could thAt be the charger or the iPhone?

As for the Zagg, I know Apple wouldnt provide this or refund for it. Just wondering whether Zagg would replace one if it was included with a faulty iPhone back to Apple?

Yes! I'm so glad I read this!
I thought it was the fact that I'd normally just eaten lunch and had mayonnaise on my fingers 🙂
I have a "Spiderpodium" and if i use it with one hand, with a non-Apple charging lead, the thing goes mental!
Take it out of the holder and use two hands though and all goes back to normal.

It's an earthing issue because if I only hold it using just the glass back, the thing goes haywire...touch the metal band around the iP4 and everything is fine again

It could be both. If a 3rd party product does not include the "made for iPhone" certification on the packaging and product documentation, you are taking a chance. The "made for iPhone" certification is for a reason and means something. It doesn't matter if used with a 2nd generation iPod Nano and it worked with the iPhone. The 2G iPad Nano is not an iPhone and the charger does not include the "made for iPhone" certification.

Probably not, but contact Zagg.

So the moral of this story clearly is take two aspirins, always wear your seatbelt, don't smoke, or quit if you do, don't touch live electrical wires, look both ways before you cross the street, avoid high caloric foods, actually walk inside the gym, not by it and most importantly.....don't use a non-apple charger with your iPhone.......

So, I'm using all standard Apple equipment and having the same problem. The touch screen goes haywire but only when the USB is connected to my computer and laying flat on the table. If I pick the iPhone 4 up, it starts working fine again. I have no case, no screen cover, and I'm using the Apple supplied USB cable. My phone is only a week and a half old.

Apple! Please send out an update to fix it!
