PowerPress, PodPress and WordPress issue

I recently uploaded the latest episode of my podcast via my wordpress site and discovered iTunes wouldn't download it, telling me:

"The file might be corrupted, or a file type that iTunes cannot play."

Figuring it was an issue with the file, I tried exporting it multiple times using different settings, but nothing took. I then discovered that some people were having trouble downloading the earlier episodes via iTunes, which had worked in the past.

The only thing I can think of it being is this: iTunes uploads my podcast via my Wordpress site (www.hellisforhyphenates.com). I upload the podcasts to the site using PowerPress. When I logged in to upload the most recent episode, there was a message telling me there was a new version of PodPress available.

Temporarily confused, and believing PodPress and PowerPress to be the same thing, I updated and installed it, and discovered it had made itself the default podcast upload plugin/app on the site. When I realised my error, I deleted and uninstalled PodPress, and everything appeared to go back to normal.

Ever since then, the podcast has been un-downloadable from iTunes. I cannot find any setting that says to reinstate PowerPress as the default podcast plugin. What am I doing wrong? How do I get it working again? I usually like to troubleshoot these things on my own, but I'm all out of ideas.

The URL for your latest episode in the feed (in the 'enclosure' tag) is

http://www.blubrry.com/hellisforhyphenates/www.hellisforhyphenates.com/podcasts/ Episode02-July2010.mp3

This leads not to an mp3 file but to a web page which claims to be playing as an embedded file but in fact isn't. The 'download' button on that page just reloads the same page. The episode doesn't play or download from your web site either.

I don't know how you have achieved this effect: have you got some sort of redirect in place on your server? As I'm sure you know, you need to provide a direct link to the mp3 file. The test is whether entering its URL, as given in the feed, in a browser gets it played in the the browser.

That's weird, I didn't realise it was doing that. For the record, I don't know how I achieved that effect either! It must have occurred at some point between the June and July podcasts being posted.

Have deleted my Blubrry account, as it didn't really seem to be doing anything other than getting in the way. I think I've fixed the problem, but iTunes is still not recognising the file (after a pinging).

What am I doing wrong?

(And thank you, Roger, for your help. It's greatly appreciated.)

Turns out I jumped the gun: it works! I just needed to wait a bit for everything to recognise everything else, but it downloaded automatically via iTunes.

You were right, it was the Blubrry redirect. I'm not sure how that happened, but once I deleted the account (which I vaguely remember being advised to set up for stats purposes), everything worked swimmingly. Thanks again!
