Your friend is correct. The developer of the App has not updated it to be compatible. Now would be a good time to input your passwords into a different password app (such as the one from Apple already in your phone).

So your friend didn't backup his device prior to updating?

In the end it is your decision. This is the first I am hearing about an iOS update wiping out passwords on a password saving app.
