How long does iPhone alarm ring?

How long does the alarm on my iPhone ring after it goes off? I've read different answers online saying it never goes off, or that it goes off for 15 minutes, or that it goes off for 15 minutes and a minute and a half later resumes ringing again. Which is correct?

It’s pretty easy to check that for yourself. Just set an alarm and time it.
